A charcoal grey pure cotton saree from the Khinkhwab Gold collection, woven in the jamdani technique with real zari. The entire body carries an all-over pattern of scrolling floral vines, geometric motifs and large spiral medallions — each element woven individually by hand in white and gold without a jacquard loom. A silver tissue border with a fine floral scroll finishes the drape.

What sets this saree apart is the rarity of its construction. Cotton jamdani at this density is among the most labour-intensive weaves in Indian handloom — the pattern is built thread by thread, shuttle pass by shuttle pass, and the real zari woven through adds both luminosity and weight to an otherwise understated cotton ground. The result is a saree that reads as quiet from a distance and extraordinary up close.

Suited to festive occasions, weddings and formal events — pairs beautifully with polki, silver or antique gold jewellery.

The Weaving Technique

Kadhua is an exclusive technique of handloom weaving in Varanasi region, and it can not be imitated on power loom. The cost and time in making a piece of kadhua saree depend on its design and color. It is different from embroidery, as all the work are done on the loom only while weaving.

Real Zari is a type of thread used in weaving, which is made from fine silver or gold. The process involves flattening the silver or gold thread by passing it through rotating rollers with equal pressure. The flattened threads are then wound around a base yarn, usually made of silk, to create the intricate patterns and designs that make up traditional Indian textiles such as saris and wedding attire. The use of real zari adds a luxurious and opulent feel to the fabric, making it a popular choice for special occasions and formal events.
