There are no flowers here — and that is precisely the point. This steel blue Katan silk works entirely in geometry: a full-body charkhana of squares, each filled with a diagonal triangle motif woven in self-colour tanchoi, creating a surface that shifts and ripples as the fabric moves. The effect is architectural rather than decorative, modern rather than traditional — and yet every inch of it is the product of a handloom in Varanasi.
The border picks up the same triangle form and renders it boldly in cream zari against the blue ground — graphic, high-contrast, unhesitating. A narrow mauve selvedge finishes the edge with an unexpected warmth that ties the whole piece together without announcing itself.
