Everything you need to know before getting started
Yes — this katan silk saree is handwoven in Varanasi using the rangkat technique.
Katan silk is a pure silk woven from tightly twisted threads, known for its durability, smooth finish and rich drape.
Rangkat is one of the most demanding Banarasi techniques. Each colour band is woven from a separately dyed warp, joined seam to seam on the loom, so the multicolour effect is built into the weave rather than dyed or printed on top.
Sona-rupa means the saree is woven with both gold and silver zari together, giving the motifs a richer, multi-tonal finish.
The pallu is woven in deep red brocade, dense with floral kalga and jaal motifs, framing the multicolour rangkat body.
