Hand Block Ajrakh Modal Silk Stole in Teal Green

Tall leafy buta are set in staggered rows across the teal green ground of this modal silk hand block ajrakh stole. Each is detailed in black and cream with small rust red flowers at its heart. A border of rust red almond-shaped motifs runs along both long edges, each finished in black.

The end panel opens with the same almond border, followed by a wide band of large rust red rosette medallions set among small flowers, black stars and cream scrolls. A second almond border and a narrow band of geometric florets lead into a row of tall pointed motifs that rise into a plain black end.

Ajrakh has been practised in Sindh and Kutch for centuries, and rosettes, stars and trailing vines are part of its classic vocabulary. Every motif is placed by hand with carved wooden blocks, so each repeat carries small shifts of line and tone. The modal silk base is soft with a light sheen and drapes easily over the shoulders.

Pair it with a black, ivory or rust kurta, or let it lift a plain white outfit.
