Swans — some rendered in deep indigo, others in bare cream — move across the black gajji silk ground with the unhurried quality of birds that know they are being watched. Each one is distinct in pose: wings spread, neck curved, settled or lifting. Small floral sprigs fill the spaces between them, keeping the composition from feeling sparse without crowding it. The two colourways of the bird — indigo and cream against black — give the body a quiet depth that a single-colour motif could not achieve.
The border is built in layers — a four-petal flower jaal in cream outlines, then a band of indigo octagons each enclosing a paisley form, then a row of peacock feather drops finishing the edge. Dense, architectural, and entirely constructed through hand block work, one colour and one pass at a time.
