Hand Block Ajrakh Modal Silk Stole in Black

Clusters of light blue flowers with rust red leaves sit in staggered rows across the black ground of this modal silk hand block ajrakh stole, each bouquet outlined in ivory. Both long edges carry a border of light blue almond motifs with red centres, framed by ivory sawtooth lines and red stripes dotted in ivory.

The end panel opens with the same almond border, then a wide band of light blue and red rosette medallions set among red florals, blue scrolls and stepped geometric motifs. A second almond border leads into a row of tall ivory fern-like spikes rising into the plain black end.

Ajrakh comes from Sindh and Kutch, where black, blue and red have long formed its core palette. Artisans press each carved wooden block by hand, one repeat at a time, so the lines keep a slightly uneven, handmade quality. The modal silk base is soft and fluid with a light sheen.

Pair it with an ivory, grey or light blue kurta, or wear it over an all-black outfit.
