Rangkat, the art of changing colour mid weave, here at full tilt. Rows of scalloped mehraab arches climb this handwoven pure katan silk in magenta, purple, scarlet, marigold, rose and violet, and every arch shelters a flowering boota or a small buti in gold zari. None of it is printed. Each colour is a separate silk placed into the weave by hand, which is what makes rangkat one of the most demanding techniques a Banarasi loom can attempt.

A zari bel border in soft pink frames the field on both sides, and the pallu opens into a broad panel of woven gold brocade over a fine diamond jaal before closing on a plain rani pink anchal with a deep purple selvedge.

This is a saree for the weddings you actually want to attend. Wear it with the zari border blouse it deserves, or cut the blouse from the rani pink anchal for a cleaner line. The saree comes with a blouse piece.

Sona-rupa means the saree is woven with both gold and silver zari together, giving the motifs a richer, multi-tonal finish.
The pallu is woven in deep red brocade, dense with floral kalga and jaal motifs, framing the multicolour rangkat body.
