Fabric - Pure Banarasi Katan Silk.
Katan is a thread, prepared by twisting a different number of silk filaments according to requirement gives a firm structure to the background fabric. Katan is a plain woven fabric with pure silk threads.
Weave – Kadhua Weave, dollar boota and paithani border.
Kadhua is an exclusive technique of handloom weaving in Varanasi region, and it cannot be imitated on power loom. One piece of Kadhua saree takes 3-4 months engaging at least three persons to complete. It is a pure handloom product produced only in this region.
Paithani saris are said to be hand woven poems in gold and silk. The weaving process uses two components, the tana which is the warp, so called as it is stressed and under tension, while weaving, and bana, a rougher and thicker type of silk that is the weft. The padar contains the distinctive motifs of the Paithani such as the mor, bangdi mor, kamal, asawali and akruti.
