Tussar Silk - Desi Tussar silk sarees are also known by the Sanskrit name, Kosa silk sarees. They are made from silk that is produced from silkworms that breed on wild forest trees, not mulberry trees. The porous fabric makes Tussar a comfortable choice even in our warm Indian summers. Tassar Silk drapes like a georgette but not as sheer as Georgette.

Patola (or Patolu – singular), a kind of double ikat silk saree, mainly made in Gujarat, may take from six months to one year to be made and are thus expensive due to intense labour work involved. This saree is weaved in Banaras inspired by Gujrat Patola weaves.
