Long curved forms with tapering tails lean across the cloth in a close repeat, each one filled with its own miniature garden of flowers and leaves. Round rosettes sit in the gaps between, and fine gold vine runs through everything, so there is no plain ground left anywhere.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTanchoi carries its pattern in silk rather than zari. Several coloured wefts run together behind the cloth and surface only where the design calls for them, which is why the motif reads as painted rather than raised. The olive green running through the leaf work is what holds this orange down. Without it the cloth would be a single flat shout of colour.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eKalka Ambi has been woven in grey, silver, green, beige, black, yellow, blue and orchid pink.
