Tanchoi, brought to India through Chinese traders, is a traditional weaving technique, popular for intricate designs, involving single or double warp and different colours on weft.It involves intensive labour and time thus making it an exclusive piece.
Koniya, or corner motifs, is an ancient banarasi handloom weaving technique where the meeting point of the body of the dupatta (koniya) features prominent intricately weaved motifs, usually paisleys, independent of the design on the body of the dupatta. Since the motif is seperately weaved it’s a time and labour consuming process and hence adds to the exclusiveness of the dupatta.
A must buy dupatta for the festive season.
