Khinkhwab brings you Pashmina shawls from the heaven of earth Kashmir. SOZNI is one of the most sophisticated forms of Needle Embroidery in the world. This extremely fine, delicate, and artistic needlework is only practiced in Kashmir and has no parallels anywhere else.  Pashmina is from Changthang, Ladakh. Pashmina shawls are made from Cashmere wool, which grows on the body of the Changthangi goat found in Ladakh. The goat is found over 14000 feet and is reared by nomadic herders of Ladakh.

Fabric – Pure Pashmina

Pashmina refers to a fine variant of spun cashmere the animal hair fiber forming the downy undercoat of the Changthangi goat. The word pashm means "wool" in Persian, but in Kashmir, pashm referred to the raw unspun wool of domesticated Changthangi goats.

Craft - Kalamkari

When it comes to Pashmina shawls, artisans from Kashmir too imbibed this beautiful craft in pure Pashmina shawls. After painting Pashmina shawls with Kalamkari, artisans here hand embroider around the motifs in black. This is another step, in addition to the 23 steps of Kalamkari. After motifs are hand-painted onto the surface of the shawl, a matching or contrasting thread is chosen to outline these motifs. This too takes a lot of time, as Kashmiri Sozni Kars (artisans specializing in Sozni Kari), give attention to each detail and each motif closely. The final result of a Kalamkari and Sozni rendezvous is simply beyond comparison.

Note- There may be slight color variations due to photographic reasons.

This is a hand-woven product and any irregularities in the weaving or pattern should not be taken as a defect. These irregularities make every handloom piece unique.
