Stripes the way a candy counter would do them. Bands of marigold, rose pink, lilac and teal run across this Banarasi georgette in soft hand dyed washes, each one separated by a fine line of ivory and gold zari woven into the fabric, so the whole length reads like ribbons laid side by side.

The pallu changes the mood entirely. A broad panel of woven brocade in pale pink and silver closes the drape, finished with a plain rani pink anchal, so one end stays playful and the other turns polished.

This is the dupatta that earns its keep. It will lift a white chikankari suit, sit happily over plain yellow, pink, green or lavender, and photograph beautifully at every haldi and mehendi on the calendar.
