Katan by tissue, two looms of Banaras meeting in one drape. The field is woven with a katan silk warp and a fine zari weft, so the black carries a molten shimmer that shifts bronze and gold as the light moves. Tissue gives the glow, katan gives the body, and the saree falls with the structure of silk while shining like metal.

The borders change the tempo entirely. Broad bands of red stack row upon row of leaf butis in alternating gold and silver zari, and the pallu opens into a full diamond jaal of gold on red before the drape closes.

Black and red is the combination that never needs a second opinion. Wear it with a red blouse as styled here, or go black and let the borders carry all the colour. Comes with a blouse piece.
